Off Piste Ski instructor Guide LES Arcs In France
Share the mountains off piste with me, your local English-speaking ski instructor. Let me be your guide to the Les Arcs Off Piste.
With 30+ years of off piste experience I can help you achieve your skiing goals
What will we ski together?
It's 1-to-1 you and me only, or you can book me for a group of up to 8 depending on what you want to ski. You have my total attention and focus. We can work towards your aspirations be it powder skiing, couloir descents, freestyle and jumps, all mountain skiing, spring skiing, ski touring and skinning. Depending on the size of your group we adjust the day for maximum skiing and safety.
Each day I review the weather and conditions to try and find the best itinerary possible to meet your level and expectations. Even if it has not snowed for a few days, normally with a little walking we can find great snow for fresh turns. If it is snowing hard we find safe places to ski the fresh snow in terrain that it makes it possible to see the fall line.
I am based just near Bourg-Saint-Maurice so Les Arcs is my normal skiing area. Les Arcs offers an amazing variety of off piste skiing from the wild back of Aiguille Rouge, classic descents down wild valleys, to the forests of 1600. Les Arcs is world renowned among off piste skiers and freeriders for its excellent conditions.
I can also ski with you in La Plagne, Tignes, Val-d'Isère , La Rosière & Sainte Foy and all the other areas in the Tarentaise Valley . I can also meet you in Les Arcs 1950, 2000, 1800 and 1600.
I work with all types of levels of skier and snowboarders, you explain what you want I will work out a plan.
Working with skiers and snowboarders you only have to be intermediate level to begin learning off piste. If you have many years experience off-piste we can do more advanced routes and there are many to Les Arcs and the surrounding areas.

What my clients say about me
Loving learning to ski in Powder
Xavier's passion for skiing is infectious, and he's a great teacher, an amazing guide and a fun person to ski with. I look forward to my next days out with Xavier, he gets the best out of me.
Learnt to enjoy all snow conditions in all the mountains
Xavier had an immediate and then continuous impact on my skiing, it is fair to say he taught me to ski!
The more I ski with Xavier the more I realise there is more to learn. The journey is fun as he loves to share his passion for the mountains with others. You don't find many instructors like Xavier that really love their job and the mountains whilst doing his best to give you the best experience possible.
What a great adventure
Through a group of friends I first met Xavier while on a business come ski trip to Les Arc. The guys had organised a mountain guide who would take us to remote off piste, undisturbed powder regions to experience a different kind of skiing.
Slightly nervous I soon became instantly at ease after spending a just couple of hours in the presence of Xavier. A person who has spent his whole life in this region and growing up on the mountain it's clear from the beginning you are in the hands of the complete expert.
Xavier sets the bar at the very highest when it comes to his craft and dedication, his communication and demeanour with his clients, and his captivating aura that will simply lead you to want to push yourself further than ever before. A great guy. What are you waiting for.
Found a new passion after 20 years of snowboarding
Having been fortunate enough to snowboard 3-4 weeks a season for the 20 years or so it was starting to be a little predictable year on year. I was at the point of perhaps looking for a new sport, until 4 years ago a good friend introduced me to Xavier.
We booked our first day of off piste with Xavier, and I'm now totally hooked on snowboarding again. My friends and I have had some truly amazing adventures with him. Having an incredible knowledge of the mountain and always finding the best skiable powder aside, Xavier has always taught us all SO much about reading snow conditions, and he will take the time to explain why the conditions are always so different, and the reasons for these changes.
My snowboarding skills have improved considerably, Xavier has pushed me above my perceived limits. I now never hesitate when he suggests I tackle something really tricky, I now realise if Xavier thinks I'm capable of the task, then I am. Xavier has an incredible way of knowing each of our limits, and always brings us back to the village with huge smiles, and many adventures to bore our other friends with.
